As a marketing consultant for Caterpillar Inc., Gina Guo is responsible for supporting the growth of the entire line of excavators within North America. She interfaces with dealers and customers, manages product inventory for marketing purposes, supports the sales and operations planning process, and leads new market introductions. She also serves as a dealer-customer interpreter, providing the voice of the customer from the Asia-Pacific region to impact product design.

Within Caterpillar, Guo was featured as an advocate for “Power of Everyone,” a flagship initiative to ensure diversity and inclusion throughout the company, and was honored with the Caterpillar Chairman’s Award in 2018 for her contributions to diversity and inclusion initiatives. As vice chair of the Caterpillar Chinese Resource Group’s Peoria chapter, she led numerous cultural awareness and career development events and developed a training initiative for Chinese culture and language awareness.

Outside of the workplace, Guo chairs the Professional Development Committee for the Society of Women Engineers Central Illinois Section, leading activities to empower women in the engineering fields. She supports STEM and engineering outreach events across the region, chairing career development seminars and conducting technical tours. She was honored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for her volunteer efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the Civil Rights Employee Development Program at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research. 

Guo has served as an instructor at Illinois Central College; a mentor at Tremont High School and for local 4H groups and Boy Scouts; and a referee and judge for the FIRST Lego League competition. She also performed as a piano accompanist with the Caterpillar Employees Mixed Chorus, volunteering in nearly every retirement home in the area for four years. She has passed her musical gift on to her young daughter Amelia, who has taken the stage at Carnegie Hall and internationally, while also performing at local arts events, hospitals, retirement homes and nonprofit organizations. PM
