U.S. Cellular has named Pete Ayler store manager of the Peoria store at 8809 N. Allen Road and Lee Scott as store manager of the Peoria store at 3517 N. University Street. In these new roles, Ayler and Scott will be responsible for leading their respective teams of wireless technology experts to help customers select the devices, plans and consumer electronics to best meet their needs.

Lincoln Office, LLC has relocated its corporate headquarters to Keller Station at 6035 Knoxville Ave. in Peoria. “This move to Keller Station will position Lincoln Office closer to other businesses and allow us to build an updated showroom with current trends in office workspace,” said Lincoln Office CEO Bob Domnick. “It allows us to practice the hybrid work that we are teaching other businesses about.”

Two Peoria Public School student teams from Woodruff Career and Professional Center Culinary Arts placed second and third in the nation at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in June. The restaurant management team of James Johnson, Connor Lemont, Lashawna McMurtry and Trinity Morris placed third in the Entrepreneurship competition for their restaurant concept Stuffed. Markeisha Watkins and Kristina Jones won second place for their Community Action program in which they arranged for pre-school children from the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity Headstart program to visit the Culinary Arts kitchen for cooking lessons.
Peoria County has awarded a $64,000 grant to the Center for Prevention of Abuse to fund critical services and raise awareness of the organization’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman program.
The Rotary Club of Peoria has awarded a grant of $26,201 to fund Neighborhood House’s Outdoor Learning Space. This green space will include benches, picnic tables, reading nooks, and outdoor game tables.

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) is collaborating with the University of Illinois Chicago to bring a Long COVID study to patients in central Illinois. The study is part of a four-year, $22 million endeavor through the Enhance Recovery Initiative at the National Institutes of Health. It involves both Peoria and Chicago researchers who will work with patients, public health departments, health care providers and community-based organizations to study what makes an individual vulnerable to Long COVID.
